Exposing scholarly information as Linked Open Data: RDFizing DSpace contents
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper introduces a transformation engine which can be used in order to convert an existing institutional repository installation into a Linked Open Data repository. We describe how the data that exists in a DSpace repository can be semantically annotated in order to serve as a Semantic Web (meta)data repository. We present a non-intrusive, standardscompliant approach that can run alongside with current practices, while incorporating stateof-the art methodologies. Also, we propose a set of mappings between domain vocabularies that can be (re)used towards this goal.

The world of scholarship is changing rapidly. Increasing demands on scholars, the growing size and complexity of questions and problems to be addressed, and advances in sophistication of data collection, analysis, and presentation require new approaches to scholarship. A ubiquitous, open information infrastructure for scholarship, consisting of linked open data, open-source software tools, and ...
متن کاملA Vision for Open Cyber-Scholarly Infrastructures
The characteristics of modern science, i.e., data-intensive, multidisciplinary, open, and heavily dependent on Internet technologies, entail the creation of a linked scholarly record that is online and open. Instrumental in making this vision happen is the development of the next generation of Open Cyber-Scholarly Infrastructures (OCIs), i.e., enablers of an open, evolvable, and extensible scho...
متن کاملOntology Learning from Open Linked Data and Web Snippets
The Web of Open Linked Data (OLD) is a recommended best practice for exposing, sharing, and connecting pieces of data, information, and knowledge on the Semantic Web using URIs and RDF. Such data can be used as a training source for ontology learning from web textual contents in order to bridge the gap between structured data and the Web. In this paper, we propose a new method of ontology learn...
متن کاملHerding Linked Data: Semantic Search and Navigation Among Scholarly Datasets
Linked Data seem to play a seminal role in the establishment of the Semantic Web as the nextgeneration Web. This is even more important for digital object collections and educational institutions that aim not only at promoting and disseminating their content but also at aiding its discoverability and contextualization. In this paper we show how repository metadata can be exposed as Linked Data,...
